1994年，罗森出任牛津大学墨顿学院700余年历史上的首位女院长。任内，她推动设立中国中心，增设中国古代文明研究职位。她亲自指导了数十名中国学生，并促成不少中国学者前往英国从事学术交流、开展联合研究。
